Fun with a level teleport trap: RIP Wizzard!

Allow me to explain the above scene through the magic of Python-Vision:

>>> wizzard = Wizzard()
>>> wizzard.rings
['ring of teleport control', 'ring of slow digestion']
>>> wizzard.put_on_ring(wizzard.rings[0])
Okely Dokely
>>> wizzard.stumble_into_level_teleport_trap()
which level would you like to go to today, wizzard? 50
Okely Dokely
Whoops, you are being attacked!
Whoops, you are being attacked!
Whoops, you are being attacked!
Whoops, you are being attacked!
Whoops, you are being attacked!
Whoops, you are being attacked!
Whoops, you are being attacked!
Whoops, you are being attacked!
Whoops, you are being attacked!
Whoops, you are being attacked!
WYLYPI?
>>>

for the record, I didn't get as far as level 50, but I got far enough.

You feel deathly sick: RIP Orcish Barbarian

Level 12 Orcish Barbarian; fought his way down past dungeon level 20; even had a pet Gargoyle; and a Magic Cleaver; finally done-in by some tainted Jackal, while very hungry.

Well, I learned heaps on this game. I got careless in the end and read an unidentified scroll of punishment, hence the iron ball in the picture.

I feel I should persevere with Barbarian characters if I'm to stand any chance of Ascending, but I do find Wizards very fun to play.

Welcome to Gnome Town

Nethack has a mall! This is me just hangin' with my Large Cat in front of the Lighting Shop. Shortly after this picture was posed we were both chased off by mall security.

Giant Eel

;

The behaviour of eels in fresh water extends the air of mystery surrounding them. They move freely into muddy, silty bottoms of lakes, lying buried in the daylight hours in summer. [...] Eels are voracious carnivores, feeding mainly at night and consuming a wide variety of fishes and invertebrate creatures. Contrary to earlier thinking, eels seek living rather than dead creatures and are not habitual eaters of carrion.
[ Freshwater Fishes of Canada, by Scott and Crossman ]

...And this is what finished my highest scoring game to date. I was surprised to say the least.

Kobold

k

The race of kobolds are reputed to be an artificial creation of a master wizard (demi-god?). They are about 3' tall with a vaguely dog-like face. They bear a violent dislike of the Elven race, and will go out of their way to cause trouble for Elves at any time.

Kobolds. Ubiquitous low-level creatures in many an rpg, but where else would you encounter them? I have never seen a graphic depiction of one or read a book/seen a movie featuring them. I suppose they were in the AD&D Monster Manual, but I don't remember what they looked like. Bad dog.

Floating Eye

e

Floating eyes, not surprisingly, are large, floating eyeballs which drift about the dungeon. Though not dangerous in and of themselves, their power to paralyse those who gaze at their large eye in combat is widely feared. Many are the tales of those who struck a floating eye, were paralysed by its mystic powers, and then nibbled to death by some other creature that lurked around nearby.

Welcome to my new art blog. Featuring all things wonderful from the game of Nethack.
